1:1 Vocal Sessions
Suzi aims to inspire people to fall in love with singing and musical expression, and to offer outstanding, connective musical experiences. She sees teaching singing as an opportunity to support the student in forming a deeper understanding and a more nuanced relationship with their technical voice, facilitating them in discovering their potential for authentic musical and emotional expression in live and/or recorded performance.
She believes in the process of helping students select realistic and achievable goals while developing a connection with their singing voice that they can take forward into their musical and personal life. As a singing teacher, Suzi is committed to a multi-faceted and integrated approach and to growing inspiring professional relationships.
The vocal pedagogies that she has either trained in and/or studied and draws her practice from include Freeing the Natural Voice (Kristen Linklater), Uncovering the Voice (Werbeck Svardstrom), Collaborative Vocal Improvisation (Briony Greenhill), and Bel Canto.
Suzi takes pride in her communication skills and deeply values an inclusive and compassionate style of working with a regard for physical and mental wellbeing and safeguarding. She believes this approach is extremely valuable when working with students.
In 2021, she worked at Nant-Y-Cwm Steiner School in Pembrokeshire as the part-time music teacher, planning and delivering music classes to ages 6-14. This was an enriching experience as a teacher, gaining insight into the Steiner approach to musical education and building confidence in teaching in a classroom environment with children.
From 2020 to 2023, Suzi was commissioned as a Collaborative Artist with Ancient Connections, an arts and pilgrimage project funded by the European Regional Development Fund. As part of this project, she expanded her skills into producing and delivering a series of site-specific vocal workshops for ages 14+, centred around discovering vocal play, improvisation, and harmony singing in relation to the wild, natural landscape.
Since being appointed as a Singing Teacher for Bath Spa University, she is now coaching both small and large groups of undergraduate actors to develop their singing skills, integrating harmony work, vocal improvisation, and ensemble singing into their creative practice.
